Developmental Biology and Morphology of Animals

The main research interest of the group is insect neurobiology. We study the structure, function and ontogeny of the insect nervous system including evolutionary aspects.

In addition we exploit the special properties of invertebrate neurons for biohybrid networks – neuronal networks growing in or on technical substrates such as microfluidic devices and multielectrode arrays.
